Lava™ Zirconia

Every day more dentists ask their lab for the Lava™ brand from 3M™ ESPE™ the any other brand of zirconia. Lava restorations are made with Lava zirconia and are designed and milled with the innovative Lava CAD/CAM system. The combination of materials and precision milling produces a strong restoration with an excellent marginal fit.

During the process a pinned and sectioned model is scanned using a 3D optical scanner, the understructure is then designed on the computer screen, and finally the restoration is milled using a pre-sintered zirconia. This milled block is then colored using one of eight shades matched to the VITA® Classical Shade Guide. Finally, the milled Lava frame is sintered for about 8 hours to fully gain its high strength and fracture resistance. Lava™ zirconia has a proven high strength performance -1440 MPa 3-pt. bend strength. All this makes Lava the ultimate all-ceramic restoration.
